I've always been a person who prefers to stay in than go out. I like nights out... but generally I  prefer being in a warm and cosy house with people I love, lots of food and a good film or box set than out and about if given the choice! This is how this weekend was spent... (p.s. excuse the crappy iPhone pictures, my camera is still busted!)
PIZZA! We ordered a mammoth Dominos in, partly because they had some great pizza offers on (but mainly because they sell Ben & Jerry's... teehee) Heavenly!

Favourite box set for a night in would be any season of The Office (USA version). I don't think a TV show exists that is funnier than this one... we love!

I then spent two days off work to have a little break and catch up on all my jewellery orders. It's been so lovely sat in my little craft room for two days just working for myself. I really could get used to it! However it's made a wee bit more difficult when you have cats... Tink just didn't want to leave my side all day and kept taking over my workspace!

Aw! Don't forget my half price code ends tonight at midnight so get in quick if you want some bargain jewels before my new stock comes in!

at the checkout! Shop here!

Jeans: River Island
Jumper/loafers: Topshop
Ring: Mozzypop
Bag: eBay

I absolutely LOVE this bag. It works out around £16.00 give or take a few pence... and it's definitely on my "want" list post-pay-day! The Topshop items I'll unlikely buy, but I'll look out for items very similar elsewhere! As for a pair of black skinnies, every girl should have at least one pair as a staple piece in your wardrobe as they go with simply EVERYTHING!

I'm excited so I'll share: I've had some good news this week... I'll have a new job as of December! Still within the same organisation but out of my home town and into the nice little town of Shrewsbury. It's a step up, a newer office and a better salary. And best of all, no running around so I can wear heels to work ;-) - no complaints from me! Oooh I'm picturing a new "work wardrobe" (possibly including that eBay bag) already heehee! Had any good news recently...? Do let me know :-)

Remember these scrum-diddly-umptious little cupcakes from my last post? Well lots of you asked, so if you'd like to have a go at baking them - here's the recipe! Check out for more gourmet cupcakes easy recipes.  Makes approx. 24 cupcakes... which sounds a lot, but believe me they won't last long!

For The Cakes...

200g self raising flour
170g caster sugar
170g margarine
80g melted dark chocolate
3 medium eggs
6 drops orange essence/flavouring
5 tablespoons orange juice
1 teaspoon marmalade
1 teaspoon baking powder

Literally all whisked into a big bowl together! You can adjust it as you wish; taste it... and add more orange juice if you want the orange flavour more tangy, or use orange rind if you have no marmalade!

I cooked on gas mark 3 for 15-20 mins, if you're unsure slide a knife in and if it comes out clean they're cooked.

For The Buttercream...

120g butter
250g icing sugar
4 tablespoons orange juice
3 drops orange essence
80g melted dark chocolate

Again, whisk all these together then spread on top of your cakes or pop into a icing/piping bag and squeeze on! Top tip: make sure your cakes are cooled first so your buttercream doesn't go runny!

Then add Terry's Chocolate Orange segments to decorate! They really are very delicious :-) p.s. let me know if you blog about your results, I'd love to see!

These are probably my two favourite colours together. So sophisticated! My wishlist for River Island's new stock is as long as my arm. Mostly blouses. How I love blouses! The heel you see above would be my favourite type of heel... nice and sturdy so I can walk without worrying about tipping! My problem with heels is not really the height... it's those tiny spindly stick thin stiletto things I can't deal with, even if they're only 2 inches high I always slip over on them! I need to find a way to slip-proof my heels - anyone have any advice for me?

Today's been a chilled one baking cakes and making jewels after a mad busy couple of weeks... oh how I needed it! I made chocolate orange cupcakes to share with the family and for the girls at work (I'm the only one who hasn't taken cakes in so far! haha) and they're yummy.

Just message if you want the recipe - I even tried out icing through a piping nozzle! Domestic Goddess in the making right here ;-) how I wish someone would let me open a bakery!

Last week when browsing my Twitter timeline, I discovered that one of my Twitter friends Layla Amber wrote a very sweet blog that I just had to follow. On reading through it, I found that she was a fellow jewellery designer too! I love finding people out there with similar interests, and so rummaged through her shop in amazement! She seemed to like my shop too, and so naturally... we came to a jewellery swap! Here's the piece I chose... a completely adorable British Bunting Necklace:

The necklace came beautifully wrapped as you can see, like a little present! It's of such high quality too, delicate yet solid and finished to perfection. If you get a chance, it's really worth a look at her shop The budgie hair clips are a new favourite of mine!

A selection of pretties for the home that I've come across this week! Really want to get my hands on all of these.
I am absolutely in love with this rug... it may be a little childish but who cares? It's a knitted panda and I'm amazed by it! Haha... find it on Modcloth.

I need some book-ends... at the moment my books sit in a big pile! I've come across many styles that I like, but I love these ones from Graham & Green. If they came in gold, they'd be just perfect!

I'm crazy for candles, and these candle holders are so unusual! They'd look amazing at the dinner table or even in a bathroom. Found in this super cute Etsy shop, Revisions.

A pot shaped like an owl, and a one-off "real" vintage find... amazing! Find it and more similar vintage bits at Thrift-ola.

Such an elegant piece of furniture. I'd want to sit in this wearing a super pretty dress and feel like a princess for just a minute! More gorgeousness like this at Sweetpea & Willow.

This is one of many gorgeous art prints from Marasca Photography on Folksy. I love the cherry red tulips and the edit on this shot... I can just picture it on a large canvas above a fireplace. Divine!

If you haven't already entered, I'm holding a giveaway on this blog until the end of the month for a faux/replica Mulberry Alexa bag. Click here to see the post!

I've noticed recently that I have a bad memory. Chris will remind me of "the time when I got you this..." or "when we went here for this occasion" and I'll be sat there blank for a while. Why do I need such a vivid explanation given to me in order for a vaguely familiar recollection to enter my head? I really don't like it!

This is one of the reasons why photos are important to me. I have so many snaps that wouldn't mean a thing to anyone else, but it helps me plug my memories from draining out of my wee head! I'm currently on the lookout for a massive photo album. So I'm posting for myself...
My week as well as birthday celebrations has consisted of too many lavish meals, too many shopping trips, being utterly spoilt, building new flat-pack furniture (Ikea, I love you) and the following...

1. I sorted out my jewels, these are my favourites but there's another drawer full I'm yet to tackle! 2. Milkshake cocktails before going to see Insidious at the flicks (very scary film btw, good though!) Mine was "strawberry cheesecake" with amaretto! 3. Tried a fishtail plait. It worked, but with my layers the top bits all started coming out! 4. I have to show my support for Man Utd (Chris bought the shirt after all, heehee) 5. Dilly bear loving the sunshine, she's so cute I could just eat her up. 6. His and hers Toms! A silly pic, but there's a massive size difference haha! 7. Homemade birthday cupcakes courtesy of Charlotte, so thoughtful... and they were yummy! 8. Finally, lollies in the sunshine :-)

An update if anyone's wondering: I'm still waiting for my lovely bag (earlier post here) for my giveaway, it should be here any day now!

Sunday, 8 May 2011

Ahh we had such a lovely day! Me and Christopher woke up early, loaded the Punto with snacks and set off for Chester Zoo. After 3 and a bit years together we've never done anything like this, so we thought, why not try something different! It was such gorgeous weather all day, we could just take a break in the pretty gardens and eat ice cream! I got some gorgeous snaps of the animals too, most of which are endangered so they call it a "conservation" zoo. So many baby elephants and so many Timones! (meerkats, lol. Lion King anyone?).

Next time I think we'll take the family along with us as well as a big picnic basket :-) birthday week was off to a good start!

On my internet browsing today I stumbled across some gorgeous new pieces to add to second "home" post as you'll see below! These posts are a great way of documenting bits and pieces that I love and am inspired by for the future... I'm always visualising that little house with a cute fence and brightly painted front door!

Being a big lover of felines, I am crazy for stupid stuff like this. They are so kitsch, tacky, retro and adorably sweet! They remind me of some amazing vintage find you just happen to stumble across at a boot sale gathering dust. When funds allow, I'd love to buy these even though I fear it will cost me a small fortune including overseas postage and customs charges! They are from

How cute would this radio look in a little cottage-style cosy kitchen? The print is just beautiful...

Adorable candle pots that I found at You can choose your letters to say what you wish, but I think this message is perfect for the bedroom you share with your sweetheart!
And this just because it's the coolest door mat I've ever come across! I'm a bit of a sucker for the nautical trend/theme. This one comes from I've a new obsession with this American website. Please open up a UK base... please, please, please!
